We knew it was sleek, but our iconic Interstuhl Silver chair is now officially space-age chic. Silver had a cameo in this summer’s Star Trek movie – its futuristic and luxurious design must have struck a chord with the ultimate in Sci Fi filmmakers.

But this isn’t Silver’s first-ever blockbuster cameo. It’s been building film cred for a few years now. Last year, it was graced by Dame Judi Dench in the James Bond movie Quantum of Solace. Quite a compliment, considering that James Bond movies always feature the most opulent, stylish and classic products.

Chicago’s Tribune Plaza Introduction to Interstuhl A Big Success

We blogged on Monday about our activities at Chicago’s Tribune Plaza that we hosted Monday and Tuesday. There was a lot of positive reaction to the new products. Lots of pedestrians stopped to try out our award winning Interstuhl seating. 

Dave Kaplan, sports radio icon in Chicago came by during a break on his morning show on WGN Radio to try out our Silver chair.  He loved it – said it was perfect for his back and the long hours he sites in the radio booth broadcasting each day. Well, don’t let us tell you what he said, watch the video here (along with other highlights from the event).

Making a Scene at Tribune Plaza

As part of our 2009 Chicago event to showcase and introduce our office furniture, Kimball Office has a display in the Tribune Plaza on the magnificent mile of Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago.

We’re pretty excited about the presence there and the interest from passers-by has been great. Lots of business professionals, on their way to work or lunch, have come by our display to try out our exciting new line of office seating from Interstuhl.

Early this morning, WGN Radio, who’s station broadcast booth is right by our display, interviewed our staff and they’ve been trying out a Silver Chair in their studio.

Interstuhl Fit Awarded Innovation: Best of NeoCon 2009

We had very exciting news this morning. The Interstuhl “Fit” chair was given an “Innovation – Best of NeoCon 2009” This chair is definitely unique, and the recognition for its design is very rewarding.

An innovation award is one of NeoCon’s highest honors. It is very exciting to have this recognition for  a product that just came into the Kimball Office family.

Fit looks like a flat surface before you sit down – using an innovative weaving method to create different areas of firmer and softer seating to stretch to fit your body. And the mesh fabric gives you room to breathe, so your body temperature adjusts naturally.
