Little Rock: Where High Fashion Meets Office Furniture

Kimball Office and its dealer, Today’s Office Inc., in Little Rock, Arkansas, participated in the ASID “Wine & Design” event. This exciting, fashion-forward event benefited the Our House of Little Rock charity, which equips homeless men, women, and children with the tools and resources to be successful on their own.
The event’s highlight was a runway show, called Project Runway, with professional models donning outfits and accessories made from materials created by design firms, dealers, and manufacturers.
“The Kimball Office/Today’s Office team had a great time developing our design, executing, and living the life of the runway models!! What a blast! Our booth display featured Villa lounge seating and received great feedback for both comfort and style,” says Mick Ann Koratsky, Market Sales Manager, Kimball Office.
Eight teams participated in this first ever runway event in Little Rock. The design team from Today’s Office included Amy Bingman, Melissa Dixon and Paige Parish.
“Each team was assigned a color (ours was Silver Cloud) and a hard material and soft material sponsor to partner with,” says Mick Ann. “Since I was partnering with my local dealer, Kimball Office was the soft manufacturer. You could see the addition of floor tile and cove base to many of the outfits as the hard material.
Kimball fabrics used were: Woodland 10701 Granite; Crossroads 10305 Silvatica; and Flicker 11132 Magenta.

To show dealer WorkSpaces LLC how much Kimball Office appreciates their partnership, a fiesta was thrown in their honor. The name of the event: Fiesta Friday, of course.
“This is something that we are doing more often here at the showroom. We really want everyone to get to know who they are working with,” says D.C. Showroom Manager Alexandra Hijjawi.

Kimball Office’s Alexandra Hijjawi, Staci Wilson and Elizabeth Hurley are all the fashion in their funky Fiesta Friday gear.
Tex-Mex food, margaritas, and fun decorations added to the festivities. And let’s not forget the Cornhole tournament and piñata.
“It was great fun,” says Alexandra. “It enabled us to mingle and get to know one another. I can see another Fiesta Friday in the near future.”

Take Me Out to the Beep Ball Game: Making a Difference in St. Louis

Baseball is important in St. Louis…and so is Minds Eye Information Service, a non-profit radio station for the area’s 11,000 blind or print-impaired people.
Knowing this, Kimball Office’s St. Louis sales team and their Select Dealer, Interiors Unlimited, teamed up to participate in a fundraiser that brings baseball and Minds Eye together to benefit the community.
Beep Ball is a derivative of baseball, played by blind and visually impaired individuals and by sighted individuals wearing blindfolds. The game involves a ball that emits a rapid beep and bases, which look more like football tackle dummies, that buzz after the ball is hit. In the case of players who are not visually-challenged, a blindfold is worn by the batter and all other players on the field except for the pitcher and catcher.
Proceeds from the tournament benefited Minds Eye, which consists of volunteers who read close to 150 magazines, newspapers, books and retail ads weekly so that people who are blind or print impaired can hear all of the things that you may take for granted.
Honorary team members included O’Toole Design Associates and M+H Architects, who are big supporters of Kimball Office and Interiors Unlimited.

Kimball Office’s Rhonda Scherer, Kathy Sigler, and Chris Durcholz recently volunteered their time to the latest annual Fearless Females event in Jasper, Indiana. Rhonda is an environmental and safety manager, Chris is a quality coordinator, and Kathy is director of operations for Kimball Office-Jasper.
Fearless Females reaches out to females in middle school and early high school, helping them develop an awareness and understanding of career opportunities in manufacturing.
“The students toured Vincennes University Jasper Campus and met with professional women, like Chris, Kathy and me, to discuss the roles we hold within our organizations,” says Rhonda. “We discussed our roles and talked to them about their career aspirations,” says Rhonda. “The purpose of the event was to encourage young women to evaluate careers that may be outside the traditional roles held by women, along with the educational aspects. “
It was also an opportunity to get the word out about Kimball Office. A display was set-up with information about Kimball Office and included handouts such as pencils, note pads, Kimball Office totes, and stick pins with the Hum logo.
Our own fearless females’ efforts did not go unnoticed.
E-mailed the director of the event, Donna Taylor Bouchie: “On behalf of the Fearless Females committee, thank you very much for taking the time to share with our future female professionals. I personally appreciate the ease of asking and finding strong females ready to volunteer. Thank you for being community minded.”

Did you know that Kimball Office offers classes for dealer partners and internal employees? From basic product knowledge to extensive specification, be sure to check out the training workshop calendar to see if there is a class (in person or web conference) that interests you.
Recently we hosted a P103 class at our Jasper location, and guests from 6 dealerships attended. P103 (Product in Application) is a hands-on three-day session that focuses on technical product details and using CAP/AutoCAD to develop efficient specifications.
Participants reviewed products and even installed some systems components to get a better understanding of the internal structure. Tours of manufacturing facilities and the corporate headquarters were also a part of the class. Specification and installation tips and tricks were shared among the group and the instant camaraderie provided for excellent networking opportunities.
Congratulations to the most recent graduating class of P103 (left to right): Karie Heathcoat-Kieffer of Hudson Office Solutions, Angela Hauf of Working Spaces, Kari Stanley of HST Interior Elements, Ellie Folz of Business Environments, Mary Dolliver of BA Designs, and Stephanie Richard of Business Environments. Those not shown who participated were Brittany Hughes of Hudson Office Solutions, Carolyn Dodson and Sandy Tyler of Kimball Office.
