Congratulations to Laura Bordeaux, president of FX Design Inc. in Glastonbury, Connecticut! Laura is the winner of the 2009 Chicago Showroom Event Silver Chair Contest.

From hundreds of online entries, Laura was drawn as the lucky winner of a Kimball Office | Interstuhl Silver chair – a chair glamorous enough to be a movie star.

Silver is one of the six new Interstuhl chairs Kimball Office is introducing to the North American market. Silver was named the Best of NeoCon 2005, and won the International Red Dot Design Award in 2008. Silver sets the bar for innovation in form, function and design – it might just be the world’s best executive seat.

Chicago Showroom Event a Hit

We’re happy to say that our Chicago Showroom Event was a resounding success. We were excited to introduce our new lines and had high expectations, but the feedback we’ve received was even better than we’d hoped.

Making a Scene at Tribune Plaza

As part of our 2009 Chicago event to showcase and introduce our office furniture, Kimball Office has a display in the Tribune Plaza on the magnificent mile of Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago.

We’re pretty excited about the presence there and the interest from passers-by has been great. Lots of business professionals, on their way to work or lunch, have come by our display to try out our exciting new line of office seating from Interstuhl.

Early this morning, WGN Radio, who’s station broadcast booth is right by our display, interviewed our staff and they’ve been trying out a Silver Chair in their studio.

As you know, office seating is a highly competitive segment of the office furniture industry. Our peers are constantly working on the ‘next big thing.’ Many years ago, when Herman Miller introduced the Aeron chair, it became a pop-culture icon for it’s time.

Interstuhl Silver Executive Chair

Over the past several years, Kimball Office has won a lot of awards and recognition from the architect and design community and our peers in the office furniture industry.

In 2002, we won a Gold Award at NeoCon for our Skye office chair, and Orgatec presented it with the Architecture and Office Prize for Innovation. But no matter how good your seating is, there seems to be a constant push to not only introduce something new, but something better.

You’ve probably noticed a big push from our design team to change our traditional approach to be more customer focused;  providing them with innovative, design- oriented solutions that give them the image they deserve. This includes our introduction of Fluent this month in Chicago and last year’s award winning introduction of HUM.
